I chose Palliative Care/Hospice as a specialty because I loved working with that patient population. The role of a Palliative care provider is to get to know the patient at a deeper level, to understand their goals and wishes, and help them make medical decisions end of life along with providing comfort. It’s a field that has helped me grow, learn and changed me as a human being and a Physician. Working frontlines currently in NYC as an Internal Medicine Hospitalist and Palliative Care/Hospice provider has really shown me the importance of Palliative Care during pandemic. My job can be mentally and emotionally tough, but it is also very rewarding.
