As a physical medicine & rehabilitation (PM&R) physician, I get to help my patients improve their function and quality of life through different modalities. I’m a fairly new attending in private practice and have hit the ground running. There have been times I’ve had to remind myself of who I am without my white coat.
Traveling is a huge passion of mine. COVID-19 has put a temporary halt on this, so I’ve been decompressing by going rollerblading or hiking. My family also keeps me sane. My wife and I have board game night almost every weekend with my parents and brother…love Settlers of Catan! I know how fortunate I am as a South Asian lesbian to have the unwavering support of my family and friends. It definitely wasn’t easy, and I have sadly seen others in my community not be so fortunate. I don’t take this for granted and strive to live life to the fullest by exploring our beautiful world. I also do a lot of mentoring in and out of medicine as a way to give back. Finding a hobby or something you enjoy doing to recharge is necessary for our mental wellness so we can give our best to our patients AND loved ones.
