It’s no secret- training to become a physician is difficult. The practice requires most of our time, effort, and attention, but it’s just as important to take a little time for yourself. One analogy that really resonates with me is that of being in an airplane- you have to put your oxygen mask on before you can help someone else. #Withoutthewhitecoat, I like to spend time with a paintbrush in hand. Painting allows me to disconnect from the stress of a busy day and provides an outlet for my feelings and thoughts. Half of the time I have no idea what I’ll end up with when I start, but I always finish feeling refreshed, energized, and happy.
