I have many passions outside of my work. I am a mom of two teenagers and a wife of a head and neck cancer surgeon and do my best to support my family’s individual paths and passions. Spending time with my family is one of my favorite things to do.
.
I love to run, and since I live in Los Angeles, I get to go for nearly daily runs throughout most of the year. Running gives me time to think, gives me the energy to get my day going (I like to run first thing in the morning), and also helps me with focus during my workday.
.
In recent years I’ve developed a passion for medical writing for the non-medical audience. I wrote a book called “HYPE: A Doctor’s Guide to Medical Myths, Exaggerated Claims and Bad Advice: How to Tell What’s Real and What’s Not” to help non-medical readers navigate the breakneck pace of health information coming at us on a daily basis online and in all forms of media. I also have a column as a Forbes Healthcare Contributor, where I try to help decipher daily health news in terms and explanations that are accessible to all.

#withoutthewhitecoat I am a mom, a wife, a runner (albeit a slow one), and a lover of caffeine and sweets.
